Buildings

Shape the island around its Tiles. Placement, adjacency and progression determine how Buildings contribute to Harvest, Dice, Recipes and the Offering.

How Building placement works

Most Buildings occupy a corner where three hexagonal Tiles meet, so a Building can interact with up to three adjacent Tiles.

Active Marks decide which positions Harvest. Buildings can change the output of adjacent Tiles, add Ingredients, unlock Slots or affect Cooking. Because effects may depend on neighboring Tiles or Buildings, placement is part of the scoring engine—not decoration.

Core Building routes

Farmstead

Harvests Ingredients from adjacent Tiles. Farmstead progression also unlocks more Seasons.

Merchant Post

Adds Flavor during Cooking based on adjacent Farmsteads and unlocks more Recipe Slots.

Shrine

Additional Shrines increase the number of Dice Rolls available each Season.

Dock / Harbor route

Expands Dice capacity and can gain benefits from adjacent Tiles.

Plan for the current run: Decks, Dragons, Ordeals and other modifiers can change Building values.

Building Slots and upgrades

Building Slots limit construction during a Year. The available number changes as the run progresses, so check the current board before buying or placing another Building.

Higher-tier Buildings belong to upgrade families. Treat them as extensions of their base Building rather than unrelated purchases.

Common questions

Where should I place a Building?

Start with what the Building checks: adjacent Tile types, neighboring Farmsteads or other Buildings. A three-Tile corner provides the broadest adjacency, but the best location depends on the Building's effect.

Why can I not place another Building?

Check the current Year's Building Slots and whether the position is valid. An upgrade may replace an existing base Building rather than use an empty Slot, but confirm the specific upgrade route first.

Does every Farmstead add a Season?

No fixed one-for-one rule is supported. Farmstead thresholds unlock Seasons, and the threshold changes as progression continues.
